How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup?
Because dental health is important to your overall health, adults typically
benefit from a professional cleaning and checkup every six months. While
twice daily brushing and flossing certainly help maintain a healthy mouth,
it is wise to check for plaque that hardens into tartar and can result
in gum disease. Tartar requires professional cleaning to remove, and is
the best way to prevent gum disease.

Do you accept my insurance plan?
We accept cash, checks, all major credit cards and
most dental insurance plans. Also, we'll file your insurance forms as a
courtesy to you. It is important, however, that you read your policy so
you understand the benefits you're entitled to, as the success of your
dental insurance depends on your full understanding and cooperation in
filing claims. If you have questions about insurance, please contact our
office or your insurance company for more information.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to
be concerned about?
Gums that bleed after brushing may or may not require attention, depending
on the source of the problem. Bleeding gums can be caused by a number of
things, including improper, rough scrubbing, using a hard-bristled toothbrush
instead of a soft one, plaque and/or tartar build-up below the gum line,
or gum sensitivity due to gingivitis or periodontal disease. If this problem
persists despite proper brushing and flossing or occurs every time you
brush your teeth, contact our office for an appointment to evaluate the
problem.

I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not
want to wear braces. What would you recommend?
Depending on your individual situation, there are a number of options
available to improve the look of your front teeth without braces. Often,
slightly crooked or unevenly worn teeth can gain a bright, uniform look
with a bit of reshaping and porcelain veneers. To discuss your individual
situation and the options available, please contact our office for an appointment.
We'll be happy to discuss the option that suits your individual needs with
you. At Father and Son Dentistry our doctors have both completed many beautiful
“dental makeovers” and we would be more than happy to schedule you for
a consultation to let you view some of these completed cases.
